Jordan

October 2022 — Photo Travelogue 1 of 2

My wife and I visited Amman, the Dead Sea, Petra, and the desert — Wadi Rum. Of all the places we visited, it was the desert that has remained with me the most. I’m drawn to minimalism — in design, art, decor, and fashion. I prefer ambient music, void of strong melodies and beats. And it’s the minimalist in me that is drawn to the calm emptiness of this arid terrain. This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

These sands have a storied past: bedouin tribes, Nabateans, and the tribes of Biblical history. Not surprisingly, this terrain has captured the imaginations of countless viewers in Lawrence of Arabia, The Martian, and Star Wars.

I shot of a lot of photos in Jordan, but most of the photos I’m choosing to share here are from the Wadi Rum, Petra and a few medi-eval castles in the desert. All photos were taken with my Sony A7iii and Tamron 17–28mm wide-angle zoom or a Sony 40mm prime.
