November, Coney Island
My wife and I visited some friends in the Canarsie, Brooklyn neighborhood in late 2023. It’s a stone’s throw from Coney Island, so on a bitter cold November morning we went down to the amusement park boardwalk to explore. The experience was, in a word, magical. Walking around a shuttered amusement park in the off season is a transformative experience — like entering a 90s Tim Burton movie, with enough kitschy color to give it solid Wes Anderson vibes.
After meandering about Coney Island, we headed over to get a 10am coney dog (because why not?) and we stumbled upon an impromptu car meet-up (check out that big-wheel Astro Van!).

Later that day, we also stopped by the apartment complex where my wife’s mother lived 50 years ago. There’s a lot of history and character in these old buildings. And I’m amazed what the Ricoh can do hand held with a slow shutter.
